It's the word of the week
Last weekend was my wife's birthday. As a treat, we booked a night away at a spa hotel. The plan was simple. She'd have a couple of hours of beauty treatments. I'd get to sit in the cosy bar, with a pint and read my book. Nice relaxing meal in the evening. Full buffet breakfast next morning. Then home, refreshed and relaxed.
Unfortunately, no one mentioned our plan to the Saga Coach party that arrived just before we got to the checkout desk. The 3 full coaches emptied to form an impenetrable silver-haired blockade of wheeled suitcases across the front of the hotel. There was only one thing for it, straight to the bar, find a snug table by the fire, then dig in to hold our territory for the evening.
With my wife off having her treatments, I was left to hold the fort. The relaxing read wasn't happening, as a rabblement of 90 pensioners can be a little bit shouty. It also meant no trip to the bar and no wee for 2 hours.
They're cunning you know. They do that whole slow shuffling thing, but it's a complete scam. One of them spots a free cosy table, they wheely that walking frame and they're on it in a flash. As for the buffet breakfast queue, it was like to start of the London Marathon.
{ rabblement }
Adjective: a noisy disturbance, as by a rabble, or mob.

Clinomania is a chronic inability to get out of bed
The "recognised" condition is defined as an irrational need to stay in bed all day, that is so strong it interferes with the normal course of daily life. Clinomania should never be confused with Ergasiophobia (an extreme fear of work), which is what your mate Dazzer gets most Monday mornings (and Friday, if he's had a few at the Thursday night pub quiz).

Do you have a row of boots in the hall? Do you constantly walk past them and worry that they might be losing their shape? Firstly, have a word with yourself! Secondly, if you're still worried about keeping your Winter footwear crease-free, apparently the trick is to fill them with empty bottles. It should be noted that, whilst this may help your messy footwear hang-up, it will also provide a constant reminder of your wine intake.
